These past months have been a whirlwind! I am fairly shocked that it is already October, although you wouldn't be able to tell here in Florida. I am looking forward to the cooler days, but we have been in consistent 90+ degree days so far!

I am amazed at the amount of things I can say I have completed in the past few months. I am slowly updating my Portfolio and Ravelry with some photographs of my recent work, but it has been slow-going. Here is a small gallery of the pieces I'll be showcasing! Some of these have been done for over a year, but these are the first photos I have gotten of them.

I have been struggling with photographing myself and my work, but thankfully it seems like I have gotten a pretty good system down.

I am also preparing to send in my CGoA Master's Program portfolio, and I enrolled in the Craft Yarn Council's Certified Instructor course, both of which terrify and excite me greatly! I'm learning so much about teaching and continuing to grow in my craft, and I can't wait to explore both of these more.

My class schedule has been updated, and classes will be running through the first week of December, but then I am going to take a hiatus for the holidays. I have a bit of time off from my full-time job, and I want to consider it a bit of a sabbatical to build up more class ideas and challenge myself with new techniques.

Also, as a heads up to past students! The From the Ground Up class is being restructured, and I have removed the old videos from that section of my website. I am actively recording new videos that will be shorter and more focused on techniques. Any of my past students have full access to this new class structure and you can reference this area for as long as you'd like! Keep an eye out for my new class, Onward and Upward, which will allow you to choose what you learn in a more free-form way. More details coming soon!

My other efforts have mainly been focused around journaling and painting, which has been a fun break from yarn crafts! Amazingly, I also picked up some knitting needles and I have a tiny bit of poorly-knitted fabric that I'm practicing with. It's humbling to pick up a new craft that is difficult, and helps to give me perspective for my students when they are picking up the new mechanics I introduce them to with crochet!

Are they knit or purl stitches? I couldn't tell you really! I am mostly working to get the movement of the stitches between the needles to a comfortable place, and then I will worry about knits and purls. But continental knitting seems to be the best for my brain, and I am a little bit thrilled at the thought of being able to do both knitting and crochet!

I just wanted to do a short update today, and I have plans for some additional small topic-based posts that I will be preparing in the coming weeks. Have a lovely autumn until I see you again!
