County Fair and 100 Days of Knitting

Here we are, at the end of February already. I can hardly believe it.

The County Fair is coming to my town in the second week of April. They have a Creative Arts competition every year. It is my favorite part of the fair. I love seeing the local creative talent, and since last year, I've loved being able to compete.

This year, I have 4 entries that I am extremely proud of. I will be showcasing my version of "Better Rings of Change" by Frank O'Randle, "The Better World Dress" by Kasia Omalska, "The Transformation Shawl" by Stacy Vaka, and the "Elemyst Pouch" by Julia Hart.

I will replace this line with photos when I have more energy to track them down. Presently, I am blogging in a bit of a fugue state.

On February 22nd, the 100 Day Project kicked off again for 2026. It was so much fun to participate last year. For this year, I decided not to commit to an overall project quite the same way. Instead, I will be knitting a different stitch pattern every 2-3 days, and focusing on a technique I have never used before in the process.

For example, on Day 1, I learned about stranded colorwork in rows, and also let go of a piece that really wasn't working out for me.

On Day 2, I used a yarn over combined with k2tog to create a small gap in the fabric.

On Day 3, I picked up stitches on a cast on edge.

It seems like Day 4 may be a day to play with another style of bind off, before I choose a new stitch pattern for Day 5.

It's really exciting to have these small goals in mind to expand my knitting knowledge swiftly. I can't wait to look back at all of my progress once we reach the final day in June. Last year, I definitely ran out of steam before the end. But this year, I'm embracing the energy I have and taking it a little slow.

This is the last I'll talk about anything on here for a little while. On the home front, we need a new well drilled. It's been a months-long ordeal to get to this point, and we are exhausted and ready for some clean water in our house. In addition, I have mandatory overtime coming up at work, which means I will be a hermit leading up to and immediately following the first two weeks of March.

If you don't follow me on Instagram yet, please keep up with me there! That is where I will post my 100 Day updates every day. And until I surface for air again here, be well and stay safe out there!
