This is one of my favorite upcoming classes! I really cannot wait for this, because we will get to build on this skill so well in the next month and a half!
Note: This has been rescheduled from its original date. It was scheduled for August 24, but now will be happening September 7.

So to start, what is the Granny stitch?
You can find the Granny stitch in all kinds of current media, as well as vintage styles from the 1970's, when the Granny stitch was very popular.
Above are some examples of modern takes on the classic Granny stitch. Taylor Swift wore a lovely jumper made with the Granny stitch in rows. Klaus dons a Granny square scarf in The Umbrella Academy, Season 4. Gigi Hadid and Katy Perry both have worn lovely and whimsical takes on granny square garments as well. As you can see, the Granny stitch can be worked in squares or in rows for charming, colorful effects.
And the best part is, once you know how to make the stitch, you could make things like this as well!
Class Structure
So what will the class look like?
In the first section, we will learn how to make the Granny stitch in rows. I will also go over some color combination tips and chat about some resources that I use when making my color palettes.
In the second section, we will get started on making the Granny stitch as a square. Note that in crochet, Granny Squares tend to be any colorful square design, which can be mixed and matched in a variety of ways. It can be a bit misleading to hear Granny Square, as they are not always made with the Granny stitch!
Where do we go from here?
I have even more exciting news! In the month of September, we will build upon our skills with the Granny stitch and make a cute cardigan that I am happily calling the Whimsy cardigan!
I will be providing plenty of tips and tricks to customize your cardigan to your shape and taste, including ribbed cuffs or flared sleeves, long sleeves or short sleeves, color choices (either solid or changing colors), and a cropped or waist length!
